LonelyBond #40 - Advancing With The Environment Design!

Hello everyone! How are you all doing?

I've been working hard on improving the environment art from last week.

And let me tell you, you guys came through!

Thanks to a lot of feedback (some on facebook, some in private messages) I've been able to improve a lot of stuff.

As you can see in the picture above, I've worked on all kinds of things:

  • I changed the colors around (from the tree, to the skies)

  • I've changed the ground to have a different, less detailed texture (and made the grass you stand on have a more detailed texture)

  • I've changed the backgrounds to be these grassy mountains, and a few far off taller non-grassy mountains

  • The water are now a gradient of opacity. and will have a nice flow to them (with leaves from the tree falling down on them and flowing away)

  • I've changed the shading of the tree to be more realistic (and I think it turned out nice)

  • Also, the picture above is from the game itself, so it is actually 'playable' (although it needs a few more behind the scenes things - that's why it's not a gif yet ;P)

There are still many things that I need to work on and improve, some of them I just didn't get the chance to do yet, and some... well, I just don't know that I need to change!

So please keep sending your feedback in any way you find comfortable!! ( here is my email, just in case ;] )

In any way, just so you can see better, here is a picture of the full tree.

I've spent way too much time on trying to get it to this level, so for the hell of it, here are a few other iterations of how it looked like during this week:

On the right is the tree used in last week's image. As you can see, The only copy I have of it is cropped, so I've added a nice smiling fave to simulate the top of the tree.

On the left is my first attempt at giving the tree a three dimensional feeling. It's way better than the first one, but... it kind of felt awkwardly put? It's hard for me to say exactly the reason why.

Anyway - thank you all again for reading and helping me out!

I hope that by next week I'll be done with this scene and move on to another one (probably an indoor's one).

See you all soon! (:
