First things first
Hey!
My name is Roee, and I just quit my job to pursue my dream of Game Development. Don't you feel like we are getting closer already?
I promise to update this blog WEEKLY at the very least (this is in bold because it's not a promise just for you, it's a promise for me) with anything exciting / boring that I've been able to do this week, so please do come and read, and maybe even contact me every once in a while to let me know what you think (:
So without further ado, let's start with where I am at right now.
Where are you at right now?
Great question.
A while ago I had a nice simple idea for a puzzle game, where you can connect two of the same objects in a way that will make them "physically combined".
Lets show an example:
You are the spiky haired rectangle, and you want to get to the other ledge of that pit. But when you try to jump, you miss it by a tiny bit. what can you do?
Well, connect the boxes! Then physics applied to one box will have to apply to the other, allowing you to move the left box to the left, causing the right box to move to the left too!
And now we have a floating box on the right. Why is it floating you ask? Well, it does have gravity, but since the left box is resisting to fall down due to it being... well... grounded, the right box doesn't fall as well!
Now our hero can jump on that box to the other side safely, where it will spend it's entire life watching the fiery pit from a different angle.
And that is the basics of it.
I already created a few puzzles around it, programmed it in and everything for testing, but I decided to make the game narrative driven, and I have stuff going on with that as well, but I will update about it when I will get some more work done around it.
